• Dr. Phillips, an applied physicist, developed an electrical generator
that harvests energy from ocean waves.

• An engineer who owned a boat told him his technology would work,
but what would he do about barnacles destroying the generator?
• Dr. Phillips is also a medical oncologist whose life long work is eliminating
cancer cells – that are in reality, small animals.
• Thus the principles of chemotherapy were applied to go after small
animals, barnacles, with an environmentally safe, multi-drug barrier.
• Once it worked for barnacles, it worked for all biofouling. And the
National Parks Service had a real problem with invasive mussels...
